It’s cold outside and the days are short. It might snow, rain, freeze or drizzle. We believe the world in winter consists of 4 types of winter survivors: the snugglers, the out-and-about types, the I-am-always-cold people and the goodbye-I-am-off-to-sunny-places people. Which type are you?
Do you have a basket full of throw blankets next to your couch, have you just renewed your Netflix account and do you crave hot chocolate on an hourly base? Then you are probably a snuggler. Snugglers like to stay indoors, turn on the heat and light candles. They wear big socks and onesies and can’t wait for spring to arrive.
The opposite of a snuggler is the out-and-about-type. These people are not afraid to go outside in a storm. They use the rule of thumb “after 15 minutes you’re used to it”. They take off their coat when it’s “only freezing” to reveal their flannel shirt and after a good long hike where drizzle created a continuous drip at the tip of their nose, they settle down next to a wood fire. Fun fact: out-and-about-types perform the exact same exercise in summer, but then in shorts.
The I-am-always-cold type has the hardest time surviving winter. They shiver all day at the mere idea it might be cold, especially when it rains and the wind blows. They are allergic to snow and hate ice skating. You will see them wearing the biggest scarfs and biggest socks whilst hiding under an electrical blanket, even in summer!
The last winter survivor is the goodbye-I-am-off-to-sunny-places person. This person can’t wait for winter to arrive to book a holiday to the south and follow the birds. This is the type that has a suitcase full of hawaii shirts ready and waiting the moment the word “cold” is used by a weatherman.
